Personhood Debate: Mississippi Voters To Decide When Life Begins

One of the major issues up for grabs in today’s elections comes from the state of Mississippi where voters are going to vote on whether life should be defined as beginning at conception instead of at birth.  Polling indicates that the vote could go either way and the results could have widespread legal implications.

The biggest debate is what will happen with abortion and birth control.  If it’s ruled that life begins at inception, abortion will almost certainly be outlawed.  Birth control could face a similar legal battle although the concept of preventing life would have to be considered separately from ending a life.  The bottom line is that no one really knows.

This vote that’s on the Mississippi ballot on Tuesday could end up being as important as any measure that’s been voted on in recent memory.

I’m really curious as to what people’s opinions are on the personhood debate.  Does life begin at conception or does it begin at birth?  Feel free to comment below.
