Herman Cain Should NOT Withdraw From The Presidential Race

A lot has been made of Herman Cain and what he may or may not have done with a handful of female coworkers from his time at the National Restaurant Association.  Although there’s a lot of confusion between what he said and what she said there’s one idea regarding this whole situation that I remain firmly behind – Herman Cain should absolutely NOT withdraw from the presidential race.

That’s not to say that I support Cain or his candidacy.  In fact, I think at best he’s about the third best qualified Republican candidate (and probably lower if I think about it).  But the one thing he said in the recent Michigan debate was absolutely right.

The American people deserve better than someone being tried in the court of public opinion based on unfounded accusations.

For as much you may or may not like Herman Cain, the verdict on him can not be the result of he said, she said and watercooler gossip.  It needs to be tried legally (if it even comes to that).  Anybody can come out with an accusation to damage someone’s credibility.  But until something substantial can be proven he needs to be able to continue on towards the White House.

Sure, Clinton did a lot worse (Gennifer Flowers) and still won, but Clinton advocated policies that actually helped middle and working class Americans. Cain’s 9-9-9 plan would devestate the middle class and he has no clue on foreign policy. He didn’t even know how to make a pizza when he was CEO of Godfather’s.
