About Dave

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you found something here that you enjoyed reading.

I am simply a left-leaning college-educated working class guy from Wisconsin.  I have trouble tolerating blatant acts of stupidity from politicians or anybody else out there for that matter and am using this site as a forum to just let it all out.  Sometimes, I’ll talk about politics.  Sometimes, I’ll talk TV.  Sometimes, I’ll just talk about whatever pops into my head.

I appreciate everyone who stops by just to read something posted here or leave a comment.  Do me one favor though.  If you stop by, let me know that you did (whether it’s a like or a comment or whatever).  I like to return the favor of a site visit to my site with a visit to yours (thanks to The Hook for the inspiration).  It may not happen immediately but I promise that I will pay a visit to your site to take a look around.

To all that leave a comment, I make it a point to try to respond to everyone who has something to say here.  Again, it may not happen right away but I do like to try to create some dialogue around some of the issues raised on this blog.

To anybody who’s site I’ve subscribed to, it’s because I read something on your site that I found interesting, made me laugh or was something that I was just glad I read.  I hope you read something here that you enjoy and makes you want to do the same.

Bravo, Dave! I feel like this is the time in our human history that we are finally waking up; becoming more conscious and moving forward by speaking out. Keep ranting!

    • November 28, 2011 at 2:00 pm

Thanks for stopping by! I look forward to following your thoughts as well!

  2. November 29, 2011 at 1:14 pm

    • November 29, 2011 at 2:53 pm

Will do! Thanks for stopping by!

  3. November 29, 2011 at 4:30 pm

WordPress informed me that you’re following me. Glad that you saw something you liked. I’m also a Wisconsin-Boy, and while I might not rant I certainly feel strongly on any number of issues. I’ll make sure to stop by and check out what you’re tossing up from time to time.

    • December 1, 2011 at 1:11 pm

Always glad to hear from another Wisconsinite! Thanks for stopping by!

  4. November 30, 2011 at 3:18 pm

Hey Dave, I noticed that you stopped by my blog yesterday and subscribed. Just wanted to thank you for your visit and invite you to come back again soon. By the way–I, too, am a bit of a ranting liberal–so I appreciate your blog!

    • December 1, 2011 at 1:10 pm

Thanks for stopping by! I always appreciate the thoughts and views of another ranter!

Dave, you ranting Liberal! Thanks for visiting my blog. I hope you found it interesting and thought provoking.

I’ll give you a pass for admitting to be a liberal college guy because I believe in time you will grow and mature into a good American Capitalist who will make lots of money and join the rest of us who hire and create jobs for all those who do not inspire to become self sufficient.

You have a really good blog here and I will visit occasionally to check on you.

By the way, I am going to add you to my “Linkage” list where you will be in the company of some fine Conservatives.

You are the chosen token liberal now. After all, if I’m going to have a liberal blogger listed on my site, he at least has to one that displays some degree of common sense.

Keep up the great work here.

    • December 2, 2011 at 1:20 pm

I’ll take that as a compliment! Thanks!

While I consider myself a liberal in general, I try to judge each situation independently. For instance, as a Democrat I should be supporting Occupy Wall Street. I can’t stand watching these protests and I just wish they’d go away. I like Chris Christie and I voted for George W. Bush instead of John Kerry because he was the lesser of two evils. I like to think I use common sense when judging things. Most of the time at least.

Sounds to me like you’re more Libertarian than Liberal…I would encourage you to take this test. http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz Let me know how you scored

      • December 2, 2011 at 9:04 pm

I scored as a centrist bordering on being a liberal. Nowhere around a Libertarian. Sorry! I tried!

  6. December 1, 2011 at 9:56 pm

Hi. Thanks for following. Makes me wonder what it was that made you laugh about one of my postings. 😀 I have just followed back and been reading your recent posts. Very interesting. I will be reading more. 😀

    • December 1, 2011 at 10:14 pm

I’m pretty sure it was the part where you said that you slept topless that caught my attention.

    Hi Dave!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and following me – did you bring a compass? I’m a little lost most of the time but I promise we will have fun on the journey! I’m sort of like a political atheist, not a liberal or anything – but I can promise you a darn good, colorful rant! Hehe 🙂
I am going to read/comment and follow you too (even though my usual taboo conversational topics are politics, religion & economics, lol). I’ve been adding a lot of diversity to my life since I got cancer and started writing http://www.lovethewayyoulied.wordpress.com – it seems a shame to rise from the ashes and repeat the same patterns huh?
So tickle my conscience…go ahead, I dare ya! 😀

    • December 5, 2011 at 4:14 pm

Tickle your conscience? I’ll certainly do my best! I know politics and such aren’t everybody’s cup of tea so I try to branch out and cover a few other things from time to time. Thanks for checking in!

I’m one of those ‘black sheep’ (no relation to ‘sheeple’) that believes anyone ‘voting’ is essentially just accepting ‘chattel’ status and only ‘feeding the beast’. If you want to regain your FULL UNALIENABLE rights, then learn about Natural Law vs Law of Nations, as well as Trust and Contract Law, and Law of Presumption. Study “The Beast Dictionaries” of “Law” i.e. Bouvier’s and Black’s to learn what the attorneys of the beast really mean by their ‘terms of law’ – entirely reverse from “the Positive Creator’s” Laws. Statutes and Codes are of the Corporate, not the Living. Best to all still ‘lost in the matrix’ ‘with blinders on’… No, I’m not a “Constitutionalist” either, as any said “constitution” is technically a document of a Corporation as well. Our\my preference is “without politics” (many votes), “without government” (mind control), and “without religion” (soul\spirit bondage), “without commerce” (barter\trade control), and “without economics” (money control), et al – rather simply a wo\man upon-the-land (without sea or ship), nothing more and nothing less, seeking true freedom, not liberty which is a maritime term and requires one to ask permission… Do the ‘deep digging’ and you will find “Reality is Stranger than Fiction”….

    • December 5, 2011 at 11:41 am

      Alrighty then!

  13. December 5, 2011 at 10:52 pm

Thanks for checking out our blog. I hope that we can convince liberals like you that Islamic Sharia law is not a religion, and that opposing heinous things like what happened to this poor Afghan woman is not some rant against religion, or racism (Islam is not a race). Everyone should be against Sharia law because if it is allowed to come to the US all of us will suffer. The vast majority of Sharia law applies to non-Muslims, and it is definitely not good. It is most definitely only for Muslims, nor is it only for their dietary habits.

    • December 6, 2011 at 8:23 pm

I would like to think that all people would be against acts like that regardless of religion, race or belief. I guess some cultures still view women so lowly that this type of behavior is allowed. I find it shameful and disgusting.

  14. December 5, 2011 at 10:53 pm

I meant most definitely NOT only for Muslims.

    • December 8, 2011 at 2:01 pm

      Kind of figured that.

  15. December 6, 2011 at 6:09 pm

Thanks for the ‘like’ Dave! I had to check you out – you’re the first non-horticulture-industry-person that’s interacted on my blog! I’m not very much into politics, but I can appreciate appropriate ranting (which is different than whining, I think some people in my line of business aren’t aware of this!)

And then of course I also had to check out The Hook – which I also enjoyed – thanks for the link. I’ve had a couple of service jobs during college…the things people do and say sometimes – it really gives me an appreciation for the people who put up with daily crap from others and still have a smile on their face.

    • December 6, 2011 at 8:28 pm

The extent of my horticulture expertise probably doesn’t go much further than mowing my lawn but I liked what you said about mentoring.

  16. December 6, 2011 at 8:58 pm

Thanks for stopping by and subscribing to my blog. I shall do the same as I, too, appreciate liberal leaning views and articulate writing (both of which I sense I’ll find here in abundance!)

    • December 8, 2011 at 2:02 pm

Thanks for the kind words! There’s always room for another liberal here. Thanks for stopping by!

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for stopping by and clicking the like. “The Ranting Liberal” great name. From what I’ve read so far, only a couple, I think if were we to have a conversation we would probably differ in our views, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t respect people who think differently than I do. Looking forward to seeing what you have to say.

    • December 11, 2011 at 8:26 pm

Very true! I certainly understand people having a different opinion than I do. As long as the debate is respectful….

  26. December 10, 2011 at 12:15 pm

Hi liberal Dave! Thanks for stopping by conservative exemployee’s blog to read about Adopting Isaac. I met the young mother by chance one day…what an exceptional woman! Please pass along their story…they still need $7000 to adopt this little boy.

    Have a Merry Christmas!

    • December 11, 2011 at 8:30 pm

I’m really glad I came across this story. It was one of the more moving ones I’ve come across in a while. I’m certainly rooting for this family and wish them much luck and success.

You have a lot of very well thought out and interesting things to say (just based on the 3 posts I’ve read and About You). Keep up the great unabashed thought sharing! Liberal thinking is a must in this day and age. 😉

    Happy blogging.

Goodness, I didn’t read all 70-odd comments, but i totally agree with what you’ve said. I may need to borrow and include on my blog somewhere. (btw, you are already subscribed to me as I write this). I too, like to respond to all comments, not that I have many atm, and to check out the blogs of those that come to see me.
Keep up the good work, Jen, 🙂

    • December 14, 2011 at 11:47 am

Thanks! Feel free to borrow as needed. I try to do my best to reply to all comments quickly but the volume is starting to make it a little more difficult! A good problem to have I guess.

Thanks for doing what you do!

    • December 22, 2011 at 9:32 pm

Thank you! I’m not even sure what to say. I just vent my thoughts on here. I’m honored that someone thinks my rants are worthy of recognition! Thanks again!

  47. December 23, 2011 at 6:11 am

hello it is olly from theglobalclimate.wordpress.com just a few questions; what did you think of my blog? any suggestions? how did you hear from me? and also you can follow it at @TGCOfficial

    • December 23, 2011 at 8:15 am

I look for political or finance themed blogs to read occasionally and I think I came across it that way. I enjoyed your update on the British economy and gave it the “like” treatment. Looking good so far. Keep up the good work!

  48. December 25, 2011 at 6:56 pm

I’m sorry I used the feminine pronoun to describe you. Now I know better. From one liberal to another, “Keep on truckin'”

    • December 29, 2011 at 3:19 pm

      No worries!

  49. December 28, 2011 at 9:06 pm

I certainly don’t get many self described liberals subscribing to my blog, but thanks! I hope you like what you read. Feel free to comment anytime, I love discussing my blogs with readers.

I’ll be checking out your blog on occasion as well…though I’ll do it from Google Reader, not subscriptions.

    • December 29, 2011 at 3:28 pm

I like to hear what both liberals and conservatives have to say (even though I agree with one side more than the other)!

      • December 29, 2011 at 9:06 pm

Same here (though I obviously agree with the opposite side more, lol). It’s no good living in an information bubble where you only read things that you agree with. You never learn anything new that way.

  50. December 28, 2011 at 9:08 pm

And how did you come across this bit of news (Substitute teachers call for increase in pay) from Bloomington, Indiana?

    • December 29, 2011 at 3:29 pm

I check out a lot of news/political blogs and I’m sure I came across it that way (although I’m not in Bloomington, Indiana).

  51. December 29, 2011 at 4:53 pm

Yo, Dave! You left a “like” on my blog. What did you like about my offering “A Nugget of Truth”? Surely (I know “quit calling me Shirley” you must have something to add perspective.

    • December 31, 2011 at 7:41 pm

The idea of eliminating jobs and cutting human capital in the name of corporate profits struck a chord with me. So many people are without jobs and an income in the name of answering to shareholders. Something about it just doesn’t seem right.

  52. December 31, 2011 at 6:45 pm

Hey, Dave I really like your posts about politics even though I may not necessarily agree with them. Me, and a few of my like-minded student friends have created a new blog, and I think you might like it.

  53. December 31, 2011 at 6:56 pm

Catchy thoughts on lots of tangents. Your writing appeals to my dendrites.

    Hi Dave,
Thanks for “liking” my post, although the reference to the “Mad Monk” Tony Abbot is probably a bit obtuse to an American. You have to be here to see the hypocracy, negativity and hubris of this so called right leaning former seminarian, Rhodes scholar, politician who can only say no.
    Happy new year
