Government: “No Evidence That Any Life Exists Outside Our Planet”

On Election Day 2011, we decide to cover the somewhat unusual topic of government conspiracies!

This comes from the White House’s “We The People” site which promises an official government response to any petition that obtains a specific number of signatures.  The latest response deals with the topics of UFOs and alien life.

The U.S. government has no evidence that any life exists outside our planet, or that an extraterrestrial presence has contacted or engaged any member of the human race. In addition, there is no credible information to suggest that any evidence is being hidden from the public’s eye.

I’m sure that this answer will be to the satisfaction of pretty much no one.  I mean maybe they’re telling the truth and they really don’t have any physical evidence that UFOs exist.  On the other hand, maybe they’ve got a hangar full of aliens and spaceships under tight lock and key somewhere in Area 51.

I have no evidence one way or the other but I’d be hard pressed to believe that there isn’t life somewhere out there in the universe.
