Bristol Palin: Parenting Expert and Queen of Irony

May 14, 2012 3 comments

Let’s get one thing clear right off the bat.  I don’t have a problem with people who have an opinion that’s different than mine.  After all, it’s the people with differing opinions that create so much useful discussion on a lot of topics.  I do have a problem though when that opinion comes from a position of obvious hypocrisy.

Enter Bristol Palin.

Now, I’ve tried to give her the benefit of the doubt in the past ever since she became an abstinence advocate following becoming a teen and unwed mother herself.  But since then she seems to be channeling her mother’s ability to put her foot in her mouth a little too often.  Instead of sliding into the background, she’s found a way to stay in the spotlight by feeling the need to comment on current events that she really ought to keep quiet on.

Todd Palin Announces He’s Endorsing Newt Gingrich. In Other News, Nobody Cares.

I’m sure the Newt Gingrich campaign is basking in the glow of yet another endorsement.  But who is Todd Palin again?

Oh yeah, he’s Sarah’s “first gentleman”.  The same Sarah who still hasn’t entirely ruled out running for President in 2012 even though she’s way past the point of no return.  The same Sarah who decided to take a break from the political arena to film her own reality show.

But I digress.

I don’t believe that Todd Palin’s endorsement is going to bring any more than five additional votes to Newt Gingrich.  I’m not sure why he even felt the need to go public with his endorsement in the first place.

Come to think of it, I’m not sure why I even decided that I needed to comment on this at all.

Sarah Palin: It’s Not Too Late To Enter The Race For The Republican Nomination

December 20, 2011 23 comments

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could the unthinkable be descending upon us?  Could Alaska’s favorite soccer mom, big game hunter and foreign policy expert be preparing to re-enter the spotlight?

(Gasp!)  Could Sarah Palin be considering a run for President in 2012?

Maybe.  Maybe not.  According to a Fox News Channel interview, Palin said that it’s not too late to enter the race for the GOP nomination.  She didn’t say if she was the candidate to enter the race but added that she didn’t feel any enthusiasm for the current GOP candidates and was withholding her endorsement.

She said before that she wasn’t going to run.  I seriously hope she hasn’t changed her mind.  I can’t imagine that a majority of Americans would find her fit to run the most powerful nation in the world but I’ve been surprised before.

As my grandmother loves to say, I’m going to get the whim whams just thinking about this.

2012 Presidential Election: The Good? No Sarah Palin. The Bad? No Chris Christie

November 7, 2011 Leave a comment

Today marks the day that leaves us exactly one year to go until the presidential election of 2012. A few years ago it would’ve seemed that the 2012 election would be a race to see who would lose to Barack Obama but a lot has changed since the 2008 election. The economy has gone into a deep recession, a lot of the big banks were bailed out and Obamacare has become a punch line in some circles.

For the record, I still think Obama will get a second term. There’s not a serious Republican candidate who can beat him. Mitt Romney? Nope. Herman Cain? Please!

With events of the recent past figuring to make the 2012 election a little more hotly contested, there are a few things that I’m liking heading into next November and at least one thing that disappoints me.

The best news about the race for President? It won’t include Sarah Palin. How anybody thinks that this woman is a serious candidate for high political office is beyond me. It has nothing to do with the fact that she’s a woman. It has everything to do with her intelligence and the way she presents herself.

The idea of her getting anywhere near the White House scares the bejesus out of me. I’ve never seen someone so woefully ill prepared for the biggest stage. The fact that almost half of registered voters would put her in the White House will always be one of life’s great mysteries.

But for as thankful I am that she won’t be in the running I’m equally disappointed that Chris Christie won’t be running. I’m not a Republican by any stretch but I like this guy. He seems like a straight shooter who’s willing to trade verbal jabs with anybody. Ever since I saw this and this, Chris Christie is a guy I think I could get behind.
